Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has praised President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, for what he described as a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, yesterday, Adeleke hailed the successful raid and dismantling of terror sleeper cells in Osun, including the arrest of leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group, noting that the development reflects the potency of recent security reforms at the federal level.
“The arrest has strengthened state security and enhanced our capacity to protect citizens while safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity,” the governor said.
Adeleke lauded Tinubu’s proactive security strategy, overseen through Ribadu’s office, crediting the reforms of military formations, the National Intelligence Agency, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Police, and other paramilitary agencies for the progress made.
He also cited Osun as one of the direct beneficiaries of these federal reforms, acknowledging the efforts of the Chief of Defence Staff, service chiefs, the DSS Director-General, the Inspector General of Police, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
“I must commend the intelligence community for dismantling terrorist sleeper cells across Osun State. I personally visited the secret police and witnessed the great work they are doing to keep us safe,” he said.
The governor urged continued support for ongoing counter-terrorism operations nationwide, stressing that Nigeria is “safer with proactive security leadership.”
